My path to art therapy started in the painting studios at Savannah College of Art and Design, where I was struggling with anhedonia and wondering what my purpose was. As I fell deeper into the spiral of ruminating thoughts that plagued my days, art became my mindfulness practice, my connection to others, and my reason to keep going. The realization that art could bring solace sent me straight to NYU’s Art Therapy program. Now I combine the transformative power of creating with my love for connecting with people. Because art doesn’t lie, intellectualize, or hide behind social niceties. It reveals truths we didn’t even know we were carrying. And that is powerful healing.
My approach isn’t one-size-fits-all. I design art therapy directives specifically for you– taking into account your presenting problems, strengths and artistic interests. The process reveals both conscious and unconscious elements that guide our work. No artistic experience is needed – just willingness to explore.
I work with children, teens, and young adults navigating identity exploration, body image, anxiety, depression and substance misuse. Having walked through my own struggles during adolescence and emerging adulthood, I understand how transformative and terrifying these years can be.
What I won’t do is give advice or “therapize” you. We’re collaboratively figuring out how you want to show up in the world, what obstacles are in your way and what tools you need. I’m not an all-knowing oracle just because I’m in the therapist’s seat – I’m human too, and we’re in this Together.
Outside of sessions, you’ll find me walking my dog Chandler (yes, that Chandler – I mean, is there any other?), listening to Tame Impala and DJO, or experimenting with various artistic mediums. I’m obsessively passionate about TV shows, competitive about all games invented and firmly believe M&Ms and potato chips are the ultimate combo.
The individuals I work with say I help them see things from different perspectives, that I’m easy to connect with and genuinely care. They appreciate that my art interventions feel specifically designed for them. And that’s because they are.
