I started my career as a textile designer. I went to design school and worked on Seventh Avenue, in New York City. I learned that my high school had been shut down. I always knew that it was overlooked and I wanted to do better for kids, so they have more opportunity and attention. My hometown had been affected by addiction just like so many other towns. I took a special interest in what could help communities, families, and people. I went back to school when my youngest child was in middle school because I became aware that I could help people. I graduated with my masters in Social Work at 55 years old. I have helped many clients work through personal issues and become happier, healthier and more productive.
I think that it’s important for people to say things to someone else out loud, without concern for judgement, to hear how it sounds and feels. I have heard that I am a good listener, and clients have said that when working with me they feel cared about.
Therapy is often negatively portrayed as one-sided with either the therapist calling all the shots, or the client sitting and only venting while the therapist only listens. Therapy is more collaborative in nature. The goal is to find and utilize our strengths to make us stronger.
I like to lift heavy weights, row, and do boxing. I draw, research, and design prints for scarves. I love the ballet and try to go when I can.
Do not be afraid to lift heavy weights. Try to make time to learn something new. I believe in life-long learning.
I love art supplies of any type, and right now I am very much into makeup and its application techniques. I lift weights and secretly want to be a powerlifter. I love sports fashion more than I like sports.
I’m told that I am creative, caring, and funny, soft spoken but tough as nails.
I enjoy working with all age ranges and genders. Specific populations and issues are low self-esteem, addiction, ADHD, changing roles, anxiety and depression, motherhood, divorce and career changes.
