After seven years working in the business world, I realized I wanted to make a deeper, more lasting impact on people’s lives, but I didn’t know how. I will always remember the moment I discovered art therapy existed. I had been searching for something, and this combined my love of helping people with my childhood love for art. Suddenly, there it was – everything clicked.
What I bring to therapy is a unique combination of skills – a strengthened ability to truly listen, provide individualized support, and work with different people. Art therapy has shown me an entirely different language for healing. Not everyone wants to talk about their feelings in traditional ways, and that’s where art becomes powerful. It’s explorative, engaging, and often reveals things that words can’t quite express.
I love the quote from Cleo Wade that says, “Just remember, when it comes to your life, you are not only the artist but the masterpiece, as well.”
This quote is empowering and at the heart of how I practice. Therapy isn’t about just getting through difficult moments – it’s about making the journey of self-discovery both meaningful and enjoyable. You are both the artist and the masterpiece, and you deserve to be fully seen and heard. Clients are often surprised by how quickly we connect and how naturally they engage with the process.
I primarily work with adults (21+) and older adults who are managing anxiety, depression, or the stress that comes from everyday life. There’s something special about creating space for people at every stage of life to continue growing in confidence and discovering themselves in new ways.
I use a combination of person-centered therapy and dialectical behavior therapy (DBT). DBT skills like emotional regulation, distress tolerance, mindfulness, and interpersonal effectiveness are practical tools you can use immediately. I’ll also challenge you to step outside your comfort zone. I’m fully present with you and committed to understanding who you are.
Outside of sessions, I’m either annoying my cat or being creative. I love calligraphy, photography, crocheting, or doodling in a sketchbook – basically any art form I can get my hands on. I’m fluent in Spanish, know a little French, and I love traveling to immerse myself in other cultures and admire the beauty of the world. I even attended a Marie Kondo certification course because organizing brings me joy.
If you’re hesitant about starting therapy, that’s completely understandable. Finding the right fit matters. If we connect, you will gain real coping skills you can use to improve your daily life. Your confidence and self-awareness will grow, and you’ll feel lighter knowing someone is listening and that you’re not navigating everything alone. If words aren’t enough, or they just don’t feel right in the moment, we can always pick up a paintbrush.
